Certificate of Appreciation

The Grand Island Town Board, at its Sept. 3 meeting, issued a proclamation to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the National Association of Women Business Owners Buffalo Niagara (NAWBO), which will occur on Sept. 11. The proclamation was accepted by Laura Zimberg, immediate past president of NAWBO Buffalo Niagara.

After accepting the proclamation, Zimberg said, “I just thank you. We welcome all women business owners into NAWBO. We have someone up on Capitol Hill, who advocates for you, as women business owners. We’re always available to help you and support you. Thank you so much.”

Also at the meeting, the Town Board issued a certificate of appreciation to Pinnacle Island Travel Staffing. At a June 21 golf tournament, Pinnacle Island raised $30,000, which was donated to the Grand Island Neighbors Foundation, the Grand Island Fire Co., the Grand Island Police Department, Charles N. DeGlopper VFW Post 9249 and its auxiliary, and the Down Syndrome Parents Group of Western New York.

The $3,000 donated to the Grand Island Police Department was used for equipment, according to the proclamation.

The certificate of appreciation was accepted by Marty Rastelli and Rick Schmitz of Pinnacle Island Travel Staffing, as well as Vienna Laurendi, associate broker at Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, who sponsored the golf tournament.
